Platt College traces its origin to the state of Missouri and to the original school’s founding in St. Joseph in 1879. Today, Platt College has three Southern California campuses located in Los Angeles, Huntington Beach and Ontario. These campuses were originally branches of Platt College, San Diego. The Huntington Beach campus achieved main campus standing in 1985 and Los Angeles in 1989. The Ontario campus opened in 1997 as a branch location of the Los Angeles campus.

Platt College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. The College is also approved by the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education pursuant to California Education Code Section 94310.
