About the programs

Platt College offers training in some of the fastest growing careers in health care, in Medical Assisting and Medical Administrative occupations.

Associate of Science; Medical Administrative Specialist Degree

This program will prepare you to perform administrative functions in a medical office setting. You will be trained to learn certain skills such as: billing, coding, scheduling, transcription, office finance, human resources, and computer applications.

Associate of Science; Medical Assisting Degree

This program will prepare you to perform routine clinical and administrative procedures in a medical office setting. Your training will teach skills such as venipuncture, injections, physical therapy, and electrocardiography. Some of the administrative skills include billing, coding, scheduling and transcription.

Externships

These programs include externship experience that will enable you to gain valuable on-the-job training to practice the skills taught in class in a real-world environment with patients, doctors and other health care providers.

Careers as a Health Care Professional

Medical Assistants and Medical Administrative Specialists are integral to the day-to-day operations of a medical office. Medical Assistants provide critical clinical services to patients, usually in the back office and lab areas, helping to prepare patients for examinations and assisting physicians. Medical Administrative Specialists mostly work in the front office providing clerical functions in the health care office, maintaining records, processing information, overseeing billing, and appointment management.
